Are You Stuck in a Never Ending Weight Loss Cycle?

Over the years, I’ve seen people be very successful with weight loss and I’ve seen failures as well. I realize the nature of the program is part of the key to success (you’ll learn more about that below). There is another factor involved in helping any program work. And as far as I’m concerned it also has to have sustainability, past the original weight loss program. 

 

A client came to me asking for help to lose weight. She had been on multiple weight-loss programs in the past and had gained all of her weight back. She and her husband had been on medically supervised liquid meals, home delivered pre-purchased foods, and point-counting systems. 

 

As she reviewed one particular program, out of a number of weight management programs that I offer, she told me she’d never heard of the different types of body fat before, nor had she been involved in her food preparation or meal planning. She decided to give it a try and felt her husband would be supportive. 

 

We connected weekly for six weeks during the active weight loss part of the program and then every other week during the maintenance phase, for another six weeks. She reached her goal weight and in the process, learned how to make healthier choices for herself. Her husband also lost weight because she was cooking regular, tasty meals he enjoyed, too. 

 

Months later, she was still at or close to her goal weight and was ready to do another round to lose those last 10 lbs to get to her ideal weight. I have found the most successful clients are those who have an accountability partner (oftentimes their best friend or spouse!) who encourages them to maintain the good habits they learned.
